DTA Renovations LLC

Trim and finish work that ties a room together.

Trim is what makes a room look finished: tight miters on door and window casing, baseboards that sit flat against the floor, and gaps caulked before paint. We install new trim on its own or as the last step after new floors, drywall or a remodel, and we update staircases with new treads, risers and rails.

Planning

Things to decide early.

Floors before baseboards
Install new flooring first, so baseboards sit on the finished floor without gaps.
Match or replace?
Matching an existing older trim profile can be hard; replacing a whole room's trim gives a consistent look.
Painted or stained
Painted trim allows caulked joints; stained wood trim needs tighter cuts and matching wood.
